Help with Aspire AX1800-U9002

After three tough years my Aspire AX 1800 PC bombed out. Of course, all my valuable information is on the harddrive.  Because I really liked my Acer, I purchased Veriton X 46206 to replace my Aspire.  I went to Best Buy and bought a S.A.T.A hard drive enclosure so I could retrive my important info from the old hard drive.  My Veriton does not recognize the old hard drive.  Now this is where it gets tricky, and I hope and pray there is someone out there that can help.  When I turn on my old Aspire, it goes to the cmos screen, where it tells me all the info on this system. It says to press F1 to continue and goes to a screen that asks for the Microsoft Windows installation disk.  My Aspire had Windows 7 Home Premium with 64 bit.  If I purchase another disk and install, will it wipe all my information from the old hard drive?

Please someone help.

Thank you all!

    Hi Bumpslip1

When you say your AX1800 "bombed out" can you be a little more specific? Reading between the lines, your AX1800 will boot, but will not load Windows? Do you get any error messages?

I think that the hard drive has failed, which is why it is not being recongnised when it is attached to your Veriton. It will also explain why it us asking for the installation disk.

When you have your AX1800 disk attached to your Veriton, can you see the disk listed in Disk Management?

My Aspire would not load Windows, nor start up.  Asked for the Windows started up disks that I do not have.  They are, supposidly located on the hard drive that will not spin up or recogize the disks.  Hard drive failed. Computer only three years old.  No reason why it failed so soon.  Even if I had a back up, it still would not work because it asks for Windows disk that I do not have. Acer Veriton failed also after three days of receiving it.  Got the "blue screen of death" three times. Techs could not assist. wanted unit shipped back for hardware failure.  Should not have happened on a brand new machine. Once again, very disappointed with Acer. Returned Vertron back to seller for credit. Could not get any assistance what so ever from Seagate.  They are the manufacturer of the hard drive. No error messages.

I can understand your disapointment, however it is not Acer's fault the hard drive failed. It's luck of the draw with hard drives unfortunately!

I wish you luck with your next machine!
