I have used this laptop for many, many years. It sits on a rack to elevate the bottom surface and prevent the fan from over heating.

Current Problem:

Recently the screen has started going black. Below are the steps I have taken. This solution will work for 1-2 days and then the problem occurs again. Since removing the battery does work temporarily is that a clue to something else?

1. Unplug the lap top and remove the battery.

2. Hold down the Power button for 4 minutes.

3. Screen will say, "Windows was not shut down properly." I choose "Start Windows in Regular Mode."

3. Use the laptop. After one hour, put the battery back in.

If you leave the battery out, entirely, and operate only on AC power, does the issue occur?
