EDIT: this would have been posted at the top if it was included with orig post.
After posting my request message below. I was trying to get one of the games affected by this problem. To work as it does on occasion after several attempts (ie. I get lucky and can play on this tablet instead of my backup of a cellphone).  i got lucky a different way. Usually the games either close after 10 secs of being frozen and flickering or just crash as they open. This time however with the game it has affected the longest(GolfStar). The game crashed and went to the"send a report" pop up instead of just closing. Not only did i find out what this tablet thinks is the problem. I took a pic of what fit in the screen of the camera and was still readable to post later on if needed. (It's the top half and the most relevant to issue being discussed.)
The A500 states ▶Java Lang Error ( fatal exception[GLThread2575]
Then goes on stating device info like version and build
Then it states. - Caused by: java.lang.error:signal 11 (SIGSEGV),code 1 (SEGV_MAPERR),fault addr 00000000
Hope this aids in helping figure out a solution. -(end edit)

Hello and thank you for taking time to help me solve the problem I'm having with this iconia A500. At the moment it seems hopeless after the countless times spent looking for a solution. But I'm not ready to give up yet.  The problem is with the video, possibly the drivers or the engine.
The screen starts to flicker after it freezes on the image currently being shown. And it has been widening  it's reach to a multiple of different apps(games).  At first there was just one application affected.  Golfstar by com2us.  The problem starts just as the game returns from the Facebook login screen.  This is when the game has completed it login to the game server and allows user interaction with it.  GolfStars main menu of choices is where it freezes then flickers. And if your able to get past  it for whatever reason that may be. Things proceed to function normally until the game has been restarted.  Back to the issue.  When the screen freezes then starts to flicker. Everything else is functional and continues.  By knowing on the tablet screen, the button locations that change menu options or  change screens intonother parts of the game that appear next.  By pressing them the usual noise is heard that sounds when there pressed. The screen doesnt change depth or blur from multiple images being stacked on top of each other. There is one image thais an been seen through the frozen screen. They are words written inside the messages from the server or other players. There seen super imposed but there is depth, i can clearly see the words are behind whats frozen. Close the message box and what's written is gone. It's almost as if there's a lack of ram and it's stuck unable to refresh the screen. But there's plenty of unused ram as well as hd space left.  Also the game RealRacing3 uses more processor and ram than any other app or game but does not suffer the effects of the problem.  As I was saying its widening it's reach into other games(Simpsons:Tapped Out&TinyFarm, and now just after updating DeerHunter2014) . With those games what happens is they crash just as soon as they have logged onto game server and h ave completed all tasks before allowing user actions to take over.  Except for DH2014. It crashes just after a mission has been completed and what usually happens is the game cycles back to its task menu of options after an ad is blasted onto the screen. On a side note. This same game when played on the apple ipad it also crashes at the same point of reference. Just as an ad is being blasted onto the screen.) with DH2014 the way the Devs set up when ads for other games are displayed. The sequence is so fast im not surprised certain devices crash. I'm speaking about older devices such as the 1st &2nd gen ones. Which the apple is a 1st Gen. I never thought the same would happen on the iconia A500.  The tech and machine quality is like 5-6 gens ahead.
From researching a way to get this fixed. It's been learned that I'm not alone. That this same issue affects other A500 owners usually between 6-12 months of use. That fits in with this device. The problem started after 8 months of use.  I've tried deleting and reinstalling the apps. Rebooting to get a clean start on game and see if that helps. And to a point it did help. But no longer.  If possible I'd reinstall the OS instead of resetting the device. To ensure that anything that runs or supports video functions is completely restored.  That is if I'm unable to simply reinstall those same drivers. Finding them is anther thing.

I am having this exact same problem and you're the first one I've really seen with the same problem. Mine started with gmail tho however I haven't had that problem in gmail anymore. But lately I've been having the problem in various apps and games. The problem is typically unrelated in between apps however but it is always the same action to replicate it in each app. For instance, in Golfstar for me going into the shop causes it, and in ComicRack changing the view cause it. If anyone can find a solution to this we'd be. I love this tablet so I would love to get this fixed Smiley Happy
