Acer V7 581 wifi problem

Can anybody help me.  I have a new V7 ultra thin laptop. Great machine except it will not connect to my router. It connected ok for the first day or two, and then  would connect after re-start but now will not connect at all. Ive tried some of the obvious and some of the easy fixes mentioned in other acer wifi posts, switching on/off bluetooth, new driver, but still no connection.  Strangely it connects to my smart phone wifi tethered  and seems to behave normally. Ive reset router, reentered password a hundred times, and other laptops are fine on the router, so its not a router issue. Great machine, but tearing my hair out with this fault. Any ideas???

    hi...

You need to open device mangager and if Atheroes is listed as wireless adapter, check it has the corect drivers version 10.0.0.225, then check if your computer has the latest BIOS version 2.09.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply,

I have installed that driver but still cant connect.  I have not updated the bios from 2.07 to 2.09 as have never done that before. Is that a safe thing to do on a new laptop. Is  there any risk or warranty issue, have read some warnings online about about updating bios problems??

    hi...

It is easy to update BIOS and this does not affect the warranty since you are installing the update posted at Acer website.

    Here's the weblink BIOS v2.09

Download and open folder BIOS_Acer_2.09_A_A, then run the ZQK_209 application to update BIOS.

  • Unless Acer expressly state that BIOS 2.09 addresses WiFI issues, I would advise that you do not attempt a BIOS update on the off chance it will cure your problem.

    Seek advice from Acer first!

That said, the choice is yours of course.
