can't determine which battery to buy

as odd as it sounds there are no identifiable markings on the old dead battery for our Aspire 5515 laptop.

The ID sticker on the bottom of the laptop is worn away so we don't know the laptop's model number.

The model number should be aspire 5515-xxxx.

We purcashed a battery "grape32" (thats the battery model name/number) for our 5515 laptop, but it is the wrong one.  I just lost the 15% retocking fee and return shipping on that purchase.

No help from Acer unless I want to purchase support telephone time.

I found the msi file on the Acer support page that will provide the SNID and SN, but no complete model number.

How do I find what this laptop's MODEL number is so we can buy the correct battery?

This lack of support from acer definately is influencing our decision on the next laptop we plan on purchasing before christmas.  I hope Asus or HP has better support for a battery purchase

Welcome aboard, Tsandco. Let me try to help.

Go to Start, Run, and type cmd in the space. A black box will appear. Type in systeminfo and your answer should appear somewhere in the analysis it gives you.

Go into Computer (formerly called "My Computer") and click on "Properties."

Go into All Programs. On my machine, I had to select Administrative Tools and then System Information. In other machines, you go to All Programs, Accessories,System Tools, and System Information.

Somewhere in your machine is a folder labeled "Acer." It contains your Owner's Manual, and that will list your model number.

Turn your laptop upside down. On the left side, there might be a panel (not a sticker) with the word Acer in the top left corner. That panel contains your model number.
