I'm working on an Acer Aspire 3680 for a friend. I had to completely wipe the disk with G-disk. It origionally had Vista Basic on it. He doesn't have a copy of Vista. How can I get a copy of Vista since Microsoft doesn't support it anymore. I have XP but no vadid key for it.

Thanks

Paul

    Hi Rascal!

    You have 3 options:

    1. Contact Acer support for your region, to see if they can still supply Recovery Disks for the 3680    or

    2. Purchase a retail copy of Vista Home Basic (from the likes of Amazon, eBuyer etc) and install that.

    3. If a friend/family member has a retail copy, install that & use the product key on the base of the laptop

If you go for options 2 or 3, remember to visit the Acer "Drivers & Manuals" section of the support page, and download all drivers for your particular model. When Vista has installed, use it to reinstall the correct drivers.

Finally, for options 2 & 3, don't forget to activate Windows.
