yes, I reached the same place and got stuck, thats why it puzzled me that it was indicated separated. If we can just separate, we could solve the pbm...

As this connected standby, has not been thought well thought through by Microsoft and ACER

The other thing to research in connection with this is something called the "Desktop Activity Moderator" as it was "created to suppress desktop app exectution in a manner similar to the Sleep state.......upon connected standby entry. " (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh848040(v=vs.85).aspx)

Disabling this may have the desired effect, but how to do that in a civilized fashion?

Who wrote that, are Microsoft joking....

We just want the screen and tuuch off, WITHOUT connscted standby or sleep, but maintaining computer fully active.

Not such kind of bullogs is offering any help or solution, I really do not get the point ?

You know how to turn off screen in active mode ?

    Thanks, Torben

There is a note on the on that page “The DAM is present only on Windows 8 Release Preview client machines that support connected standby”. If I understand that correctly that paper only pertains to Windows 8 Release Preview, which I had on my desktop about one or two months before Windows 8 was released to the general public.

I’m beginning to think that this has something to do with Acer and not Windows because it works on the desktop with Windows 8 Pro but not on the W510 with Windows 8 Pro
