no wifi on 501 tablet

Hello.

I bought a A501-10S16U ANDROID3.0US/TEGRA 250/1G/16GB/BT/10.1/3G ATT. It has Android 3.2 and has no or extremely poor wifi. Previous user swapped card. Question, is there a solution and what is the correct wifi card- is it critical?. I was able to get one bar of service using a laptop antenna and different card. Could it be firmware? The wifi fix for the 500 series did not seem to apply to this tablet but could be just me.

Thanks

    hi...

You may try performing a harwdare reset by Inserting a suitable tool into hardware reset pin hole , such as a paperclip, to reset the tablet to its default settings. It will not affect any data on your Tablet.

If the issue still persists, you needt to perform factory data reset.

The following steps will erase all of your personal information, all stored contacts and any programs you have installed on your tablet:

    1. Power off the tablet.
    2. Press and hold the Volume up button, which is located closest to the rotation lock.
Note: In landscape view, with the volume buttons across the top of the tablet, Volume Down is the lefthand button. In portrait view, with the volume buttons across the right side of the tablet, Volume Down is on the bottom.
With Volume up button held, press and hold the Powerbutton for 3 seconds then release it. Continue holding the Volume up button.
    3. Once the tablet vibrates, switch the touch screen lock switch on and off repeatedly while still holding the Volume upbutton.
    4. Release the Volume up button and stop switching the touch screen lock switchonce the "Erasing Userdata..." message appears in the upper left corner of the screen.
    5. Once complete the tablet reboots and starts with the OOBE screen, at this point the tablet will have been restored to the factory default settings.

    Thanks for the reply,

I need a little guidence please, the lock button is the lock with a circle as the tablet boots correct? if so, I hold the up button, started tablet (up button held) index finger on center of circle and moved the 'curser' to the lock icon on right edge of circle and back to circle center, about 30 times. No "clearing data" appeared. Next I tried holding up button and dragging the lock to the edge then back to the middle, lifting finger until the lock reappeared then dragging the lock back the edge and back to the middle. I did this several time also.

Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks to all on the issue. It appears that the tablet had been worked on elsewhere and the tech did not connect the third antenna. This is a good ending and a great lession, NEVER assume the last tech checked their work. After 2 weeks, lots of hours and emails, a very simple recheck of the circuit showed a disconnected antenna and a abused mini SD connection.

Thank you again, now to get it unlocked from ATT

    Consider this closed/solved
