Need to press F3 to get video.

Hello All,

Just bought a Vertion X4620G Desktop.  When it starts there is no video or post.  The post is occurring, it's just that I can't see it.  After pressing the F3 key, I get video and then select Windows 7 to boot.  Everything works fine after that.

I'm just wondering why I have to hit F3.  I'm using the DIV-VGA converter that came with the system and I'm guessing that's why.  Maybe a bios setting could fix it.

Also, I see from other posts that if I upgrade my video card the onboard Intel graphics are disabled automatically?  I just wanted to verify if that was true or not.

Thanks

Your system should not require a keypress for video to display.  It should be visible during POST.

I do not know what, if any, changes have been made to the software or hardware.

    Reset the BIOS to defaults.

This will ensure that it is not a BIOS issue that is preventing the system from booting properly.

If resetting the defaults for BIOS fails to correct the issue, it is possible that you could have a hardware issue.

I do not believe that it is a software issue, based on when the issue is occuring, but I'm unable to rule out the possibility entirely.

Has the system ever worked without having to press F3?

Yes, it boots eventually when the timer runs out to select an OS to load.  The only choise is Windows 7 so it starts up.

I upgraded the video card and the problem went away.  It probaly was something in the bios but it's not an issue anymore.

    Thanks!
