Hello i try for many days to install W8.1 on my Acer laptop (Aspire M3-581TG) but every time the update stops at the same point (41% applying PC-setting). After this i get a message (image1) on my screen and W8 is restored.

I have installed all W8.1 drivers from this site on te laptop but W8.1 will not install.

Even the commands Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and sfc /scannow don't help (see image2)

Someone any idea what to do now?

    Welcome aboard.

Although this is a Microsoft software problem, I will try to help. WIndows 8.1 is NOT an upgrade. It is a complete operating system, and if you install it, you will lose all your Acer drivers. You might be able to download and install them free from the Acer site. On the other had, without those drivers already installed, you might not be able to run your computer.

Anything is possible, but it looks to me as if Windows 8.1 did its job. It saw a problem and rolled you back safely to Windows 8.

I will be installing (I hope ) 8.1 on my desktop tonight. But my laptop is staying with 8. Changing the operating system on a laptop is too dangerous a trick.

Depends, I "upgraded" my W510 and a Desktop from the Microsoft store and all of my drivers were still there. OTOH if you loaded from a ISO then it probably won't keep them.

To get from the store you need to load an optional KB, then the option to upgrade appears. Did take almost two hours and I have a big pipe.
