Touchpad is WAY too sensitive!

Aspire 5552, windows 7 (family edition).

Tried changing the elan settings, turned the sensitivity way down and the palm detection way up (which should decrease accidental taps). Those changes don't translate at all to the touchpad though. No matter what settings I use, the touchpad behaves exactly the same way. I even disabled tapping but I can still tap.

I've heard about touchfreeze which is a small programmed designed to disable the pad while typing but I wasn't able to find a proper download link.

I'm about to drive my fist through the ****** thing so any help will be appreciated!
