I returned from my overseas duty. I have a H233H 23 inch monitor that never worked. It powers up and the Acer screen comes on but after that nothing. When I try to connect to it the light button goes red.  When it was in warrenty the tech said to mail it back but sis not tell me what it was....now it is out of warrenty. Anyone know how to fix the problem?

...only if your USNavy affiliated, bro/sis.

J/k - quick question, though; the power button turns red, not orange? Personally, own a H243H and a H213H (very similar models), and their 'sleep' power button is orange...I've never seen them display a red coloration.

Otherwise, there are a whole bunch of different things you can try to troubleshoot:

    • Make sure the drivers for your graphics processor in your computer are updated.
    • Try different cords - you should be able to hook up HDMI, DVI, and VGA from the monitor (and you should have recieved most (if not all) of those cords when you bought it...not sure what you're trying to hook it up to, but try the different connections on that if they exist.
    • If that doesn't help, and if you have the extra tech available, try hooking the monitor up to any other video device, and try hooking the computer up to any other monitor.

^-- that should be the final hurdle in figuring out if it's truly a problem with the monitor, the cord, or the computer itself.

    Not too important, but:

    • What kind of conditions did you leave your monitor in? Any risk of severe cold/heat, moisture, electrical (lightning, etc.). - yes, you had a problem before, but I'm asking to figure out if there's a chance it could have gotten worse.
    • Can you access the menu for the monitor at all? - should be buttons near the power button (bottom right).
    • Try playing music through the speakers on the monitor - should just need a 3.5 audio connection.
