5750 Win7pro Adata SP600 SSD, runs fine then shuts off randomly

I've tried this with 3 different 5750 laptops.

Removed original HD, replace with SSD. OS loads fine, runs for a while and then the machine shuts down and forgets it has a HD. It reboots and gives message for NO HD. I reboot.. It finds the HD and all is good. Shows Kernel error 41 with no description as to why.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

HD is set to ACHI and I have the latest BIOS installed.

    Hi RWT711!

Is this the same SSD in the three different laptops or three different SSD's in the three laptops? If it is the same SSD, I'd say there may be a problem with it.

What version of Windows are you running? If it is XP, then I believe there are some issues with SSD's, but if it is a later OS, then there should be no problems...

I'm installing running Win 7 Pro SP1. On 3 different Computers with 3 different Hard Drives.

They run fine with their original drives but these laptops needed to go from 7Home to 7Pro to join the domain. I upgraded the drive to SSD because of the speed and they don't need storage. (Windows and programs now load in 18 seconds)

The OS runs fine until it randomly shuts down when in use and when not in use. then gives me the "Load Boot Drive" or No Disk error.

After I restart.. It's fine again with NOTHING in the log except the Kernel error about the unexpected shutdown.

Your laptop may need a BIOS update to work properly with SSDs. You can check the Acer support site, click on "Drivers & Manuals" then select your model and click on the BIOS tab to see if there is an update for it.

Please be careful when flashing your BIOS - even though these days it is easy to do, if it goes wrong then you're likely to "brick" your laptop.

As I said in the first post. It's already done.

RW, I'm sorry that you're having  this problem. Years ago, I had the same problem with a Toshiba laptop. The hard drive can fail in different ways and for different reasons, but my hard drive would work fine for hours and even days and then foul up again. The hard drive (which was heavily used) had simply started to wear out.

I'll give you two free solutions, but if they don't work, you'll have to take it to a shop.

    1) Run a deep scan with your antivirus and with the free Malwarebytes program.

    2) Install the free Core Temp program to check your temperature. Hold your finger over the exit vent to make sure your fan is running. Give a short burst of compressed air into the exit vent WITH YOUR LAPTOP TURNED OFF. Elevate the back corners slightly--this will lower your temperature about 5C.

I run a shop. Thanks. seriously why would you even offer those solutions? I need answers from people who can suggest more than run a virus scan. I just installed this on 3 different laptops with all of the same results. It's a hardware issue. All 3 of them are sitting on my workbench right now displaying the same thing.

    [please keep it courteous]

Sorry, RW. We get a lot of posters with varying degrees of knowledge, and I hadn't known that you are a professional.
