HI ... Hoping somone on here can help, I bought An A1-810 in early September. I have only just tried to use the camera, when i press the camera icon i get just a grey screen with three icons on the bottom, left is camera , center is a blue button and to the right a circle. There is no response when i press any icon, the screen is just dumb then after around 20 seconds an error message says "sorry gallery has stopped " with an option to press ok. Could this be a software issue? or more likely hardware related? any help appreciated. The machine is running Android 4.2.2 Kernel version 3.4.5

I would first do a reset of the tablet.  This will eliminate any software issues that could possibly be causing the issue.

This same problem here. Factory reset didn't helped. I've also noticed random reboots few times a day. Tablet just suddenly turns off and boots again. Sometimes after waking up, sometimes whil doing something. I thought it was caused by some app but factory reset didn't helped. I think it might be connected...

    Help?

I am having the same problem.... Only difference is that the camera icon appears on the device but not in the App settings.

Same problem with brand new 811. 'Unfortunately gallery has stopped' contacted Acer support. Advised to do a hard reset. Power off. Hold volume and power keys. Select wipe data then reboot now. Guess what? made no difference. Still same issue. I notice no-one from acer answering on these boards. Surprise, surprise.

I have the same problem with no access to the Rear camera.  If resets can't fix it, what can we do?

If the hard reset did not resolve the problem your only options are to return or download a different camera app from the play store.

    Roadwarrior gave the correct solution:

Download another camera application like google camera from google play:

    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera

if also google camera fails, you must contact your national Acer service support.

Thanks, but Google camera is only available for devices running kitkat 4.4 (my A1 is running 4.2.2. - don't suppose there is an update for an A1-810 to 4.4?).

Want to avoid a factory reset if possible, but is that my next move before sendning it back?

You can try any other camera application available on google play and compatible with android 4.2

If still no luck with a new camera application, the next step is a factory reset and if still in trouble...acer service.

Well I held off on the reset, waited for the 4.4 update to see if that would solve it. Still no joy and even the hard reset didn't fix it, so today its on its way back to Acer - will see what happens from here, if i get the old one fixed or a replacement sent?

@Ironfly, is this then a hardware issue, is it a known problem?

I hope they can turn it around quickly, i must say for the brief window i had the device running on 4.4 it was quite impressive, running apparently faster that on 4.2 and looking smooth... Shame the camera died :-s

To be honest i don't know if it's a know issue, probably the camera module had some issue and refused to respond to OS commands.

let's wait for a repair or a replacement unit, this depend only on Acer reparation cost.

    Hi everyone,

My 2 brothers both have an Acer Liquid E3 and after updating to Android 4.2.2. they both couldn't use the back camera. Very fustrating as you can imagin!
I've been looking for a solution, took me a while but IT WORKED!
    I did the following:
    - turn device completly off

    - remove SD-card
    - restart device without SD-card
    - test the camera... it should work perfectly now
    - turn device completly off again
    - insert SD-card
    - restart device
And now the camera should be working again. It worked for my brothers so I hope it will work for all of you aswell!!

Hope this was helpfull, I'm no expert and I have no idea why this works... so if it doesn't work for you... don't shoot me Smiley Wink

    Cheers!

try to install one of the free camera application from Google Play:

    https://play.google.com/store/search?q=camera

check if it works, if not, try a factory reset (do a backup of your personal data first)

    settings/backup&reset/factory data reset

if the issue persist after the factory reset.....contact the Acer support service if still under warranty.

Same problem on my 810. I installed the Kit Kat update and then another system update today. Gallery stopped message again. Camera icon is faded and not a listed app.

Solved by installing HD camera from Google Play store. New camera works. Not worth trying factory reset and losing all that data. Love the tablet and moving on. Life is too short.

To be honest, after a major update, i always prefer to do a factory reset.
