Hello,

On my laptop, i had installed windows 8 and as there was problem with some tiles on windows 8, from general setting i used option for clean up because i tght tht it will clear everthing including my other OS ubuntu but it actually deleted windows 8 itself. now even if i am trying to open or install windows OS, it shows the error like "PXE-MOF:Exiting PXE ROM". i am not able to install windows on my laptop.

So i decided to run windows CD thrgt ubuntu but as expected it is opening the disc also showing me the data but cld able to run that becasue it has windows OS.

My problem is that, i want to replace ubuntu and want to install windows OS. if not thn at lease is it possible to dual boot it?  also there one more problem with ubuntu is that, i am trying to connect that to my wifi network. it shows the connection after putting all the security details but when i tried to open any page on browser but shows message like "cldnt able to load" or something ike that. i simply dont get it.

Even i downladed the virtualbox which is compatible for ubuntu 10.04 on another PC and tried to install on ubuntu, even that didnt get installed, showed error that " the software may not be suitable or you dont have autorization to install this"

so could u pls help me with this, i am really fed up, its like a dead end for me. i would really appreciate if show me a way thrgh this. i want windows back on my laptop.

It's important to remember to include information about your system when askign for help. What model is your computer? What is the factory original os?

PXE ROM error means that there was no bootable media in the boot list before it got to your network card. This can either mean the HDD is dead or, far more likely, that Windows is corrupt or missing. It is possible to dual boot Windows 8 and Linux but it's not an easy task. You'd want to be in Legacy mode with AHCI enabled. To install just Windows if you have Windows disks you should be able to delete all partitions on the disk and install from there.

Enter BIOS. If it' is UEFI change to legacy. Boot Ubuntu Live CD 12.04 or higher. 10.04 wont work - it is not compatible with the UEFI BIOS. Once loaded live Ubuntu run Gparted and delete every partition on the HDD. Then format in ext4 the whole HDD. Then delete the whole HDD. After that boot to BIOS and turn on UEFI with secure boot. Change order to boot first from optical drive. Put the Windows 8 original DVD into the tray, boot and install your fresh copy of Windows 8. That"s it.
