Aspire V3 771G-6485 Trackpad Freezing

Hello,

I own a new Aspire V3 771G-6485 running Windows 8 and noticed that the track pad freezes, or sometimes starts skipping around the screen when I connect it to my router using an ethernet cable. I have already tested it with two different ethernet cables and the probelm persists. It only happens when I plug in the ethernet cable. Once I disconnect it, the trackpad functions as normal. I have looked up an update for the driver using the device manager and it tells me that it's up to date and working properly. Can anyone please help me with this? I'm lost.

Thank you.

Henry

Henry, there are several possible causes, so I'm giving you a link to Microsoft's list of things to try:  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/help/mouse-touchpad-keyboard-problems-in-windows#v1h=tab01

Here are some other easy solutions:

    1) There is a touchpad strip right above the touchpad. Make sure that you are not accidentally activating it.

    2) Carefully clean off your touchpad.

    3) For some ingenius reason, MS puts touchpads and mouses under "Mouse" in Control Panel. Check there to make sure that everything is set properly.

    4) This is a desperation measure. SET A SYSTEM RESTORE POINT. Go into Control Panel and Device Manger and delete your mouse and touchpad. Restart, and Windows will regard them as new hardware and search for the proper drivers for them. I urge you not to try this method unless all else fails.

    5) No joke, some people have solved the problem by installling a different mouse.

    6) Turn off your laptop and disconnect everything, including printers. Reboot and see if the touchpad works when you connect to Wifi. If it does, reconnect your peripherals one at a time to see which one is causing the problem.
