Google Earth in conflict with Acer Inspire Notebook

I have recently acquired an Acer Inspire notebook and Google Earth will not upload and display correctly. I receive two different on-screen messages, one telling me to try DirectX and the second telling me my graphics card does not support the software demands. I understood that Google Earth runs on virtually everything. I have tried downloading DirectX and have also:

a) Varied the screen resolution (also suggested) and varied the 64/32 bit setting

b) been in contact with official local Acer reps who referred me to their laboratories whom they said will upgrade the card.

The tech who accepted my call said nothing can be done; the notebook can't be upgraded.

I find it strange that the simplest tablets can do wonders with no problem yet the Acer Notebook - claimed and arguably constructed as a replacement for a "standard" laptop - can't display Google Earth correctly.

Any comments and/or help, please.
