Acer aspire 3830tg motherboard problem

Hi,

I have an Acer aspire 3830tg laptop whose warranty has expired a few months ago. The screen does not come up and the diagnosis says that the VGA port on motherboard isn't working. The proposed solution was to replace the whole motherboard. But the authorized service center in Hyderabad, India says they are not sure if the part is available.

Does that mean I can never get it fixed in India?

If the internal screen does not display anything and the VGA port on the unit does not output any signal to an external display, then yes, the video components have failed.  This would certainly indicate a motherboard replacement.

Each region and service center is responsible for it's own stock and ability to repair units.  I would think that a unit at or near a year old would be repairable, but I'm unable to verify stock or availability of parts for any service center.
