Acer 5830T Bios (defrauded)

Hi all,

There was a loose connection issue for which I showed my laptop to a nearby (untrusted) repairer who quoted a big amount and said IC needs to be replaced and I asked him to return the laptop back.

When the laptop was returned, the loose connection issue was resolved but the laptop won't start though there was a powersupply and the blue power button light lit. So I showed it to someone else who stated that the previous guy has probably replaced the bios. Could this be the issue?

If yes, replacing the bios would resolve the issue? Can I order - http://www.ebay.com/itm/BIOS-CHIP-ACER-ASPIRE-5830G-5830T-5830TG-/380343751577?ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123 then?

If no, I do not want to go back to the person who defrauded and pay a ransom. Do I then need to change the motherboard? If yes, could anyone tell me about the charges?

Please help!! I'm stuck with no system. Man Sad

Does anything happen whe the power button is pushed ? Screen change (may just be from black to less black). Does the blue light blink. Do you feel a click when pushed ?

If not then I suspect the power button is damaged.
