W3-810 Won't Powerup (Used with an external projector)

I have an Iconia W3-810 (64gb) that I purchased on 9/5 and have really enjoyed it. However, I used it this morning with an external projector using the micro HDMI to VGA adapter. I disconnected the VGA adapter while the computer was still running, but then shutdown the computer normally. Now it will not start at all. I have tried to start the tablet with the power adapter connected and disconnected. With the power adapter connected, the LED glows blue, so I think the battery is charged. I have also used a wireless mouse and a BT keyboard with no problems. Does anyone have any suggestions before I send it in for service? Could connecting it to an external projector cause any problem? It worked fine while I was using it. Thanks.

Sounds like it thinks the projector is still installed and configured as the only display. Do you have access to a USB keyboard and adapter to allow you to bootup with a wired keyboard connection? If so you could go into safe mode to see if it switches back to the correct display. If not, try and boot with an external monitor or projector connected to see if you can use that display to set things right.

After I disconnected the external projector I shut the tablet down using the tablet screen. I shut normally. I have tried hooking it back up to an external monitor to see if it displays, which it did not.

Then my first guess was off the mark. No Acer logo during the boot attempt? Does the screen backlighting start or does it stay completely black?

I am not getting anything. WIth the power adapter plugged in, I have a steady blue LED on the power button. When I unplug the power adapter, the power button in unlit. I have tried holding the power button down for 30 seconds and then pushed it again, with no result. I have done this with both power adapter plugged in and not plugged in. I also tried using a USB keyboard with no luck.

On my W3 when plugged in and blue light is steady, I push the power button, feel the click, and the blue light flashes slowly five times then comes on steady. In the meantime the Acer splash scream has come on.

Then I'm afraid we're at the 'Contact Support' point. :-( It sounds like a child failure (typically found early in the life of a component) on the motherboard. Power is getting in, but the motherboard doesn't respond to the start signal from the button.

Have you tried the old "Hold the power button in for about 1 minute then release" then "press the power button again " Trick?

It has worked for me in the past on both the w3-810 and w511 I own when they tend to get stuck in that kind of situation.

    Thanks,

Thanks. Yes I did try holding the power button down for an extended time and then tried powering it again. Was not able to get anything. I have already mailed it back to Acer for service. Again, thanks for your help.
