Battery life; Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG

I have an Acer Aspire TimelineX 4830TG laptop. I have acquired this laptop on August 28, 2011.

The battery life's really awesome like I could use it the whole day despite the fact that I use Adobe PS which eats a lot of battery, right?

So when I installed and, for a several days, uninstalled Deep Freeze for my laptop, the battery life shortened. It used to run at most 8+ hours, but these days, it would only run at most 3.5-4 hours, depending on how I use it. Still, I wanted to bring back that 8+ hours capacity of my battery life.

And oh I actually reinstalled my NVDIA driver since I have encountered the blue screen of death twice, which was actually very weird, and since then I have not encountered the blue screen of death once again.

What do you think is the cause of this sudden change of battery life? Is it because of the Deep Freeze setting or is it because I have reinstalled my NVDIA driver? And I have considered the fact that my laptop's aging but I think the battery wouldn't shorten its life abruptly. Is there anyway that I can bring back that 8+ hours capacity of my laptop's battery life? Smiley Very Happy

P.S. I actually installed that Deep Freeze this year and the reinstalled my NVDIA driver last year. Smiley Happy

    Hi enigmaticdecoy!

I suppose it is possible that Deep Freeze may have altered settings on your laptop, but I'm not overly familier with it. Can anyone else advise?

A few tips for "revitalising" your battery:

    1. Defrag your HDD. A fragmented drive uses more battery power than a fresh degragmented one.

    2. Clean your battery contacts. Cleaning the battery's metal contacts with rubbing alcohol on a damp cloth, increase the energy efficiency.

    3. Check that your fan & vents are dust free. A build up of dust make the fans work faster for longer, thus using more battery power.

    4. Calibrate the battery by completely discharging, then recharge to 100%. When it is fully charged, run on battery.

Also check that certain programs or services that you don't or no longer use are not running in the background.

Even after two years, your battery may never charge like it used to when it was new.
