P7215 RS-232 commands

Hello! I'm trying to turn On (& later Off) a P7215 projector and I just can't do it...

The commands I'm using are:

Code (character)       Command Function                               Feature

* 0 IR 001\r                2A,20,30,20,49,52,20,30,30,31,0D              Power On

* 0 IR 002\r                2A,20,30,20,49,52,20,30,30,32,0D              Power Off

I'm using a null modem cable.

To send the commands from the PC (Win XP) to the projector I'm using Hercules http://www.hw-group.com/products/hercules/index_en.html

I used the following settings: Baud Rate: 9600, Parity Bit: none, Data Bit: 8, Stop Bit: 1

Could you please help me?

Thnaks,

Shay

The information that I have available is as follows:

    RS232 Protocol Communication Settings
    Connection     Value
    Baud Rate       9600
    Data Bits         8
    Parity             None
    Stop Bits         1

    No Code (character) Function feature
    1 OKOKOKOKOK\r Power On
    2 * 0 IR 001\r Power On
    3 * 0 IR 002\r Power Off
    4 * 0 IR 004\r Keystone
    5 * 0 IR 006\r Mute
    6 * 0 IR 007\r Freeze
    7 * 0 IR 008\r Menu

If you need additional information, please let me know.

We are unable to support Hercules, as it is software that we do not ship.  I'm unable to say if it works with our projectors or not.

    Thanks, Tommy!

    1. What's the difference between the 1st and 2nd "Power On" commands?
    2. Are there any specific Menu settings at the projector's end?
    3. How do you suggest that I translate these commands to their HEX equivalents?
    4. Should I use a Null modem cable?

Thanks a lot! Please note that I've tried sending the commands you've suggested, but the P7215 wouldn't turn ON...

    Shay,

We should now have an application loaded on the Drivers page with RS232 commands and the files needed for the system

For your convenience, I'm linking it here as well.

    Dear Tommy,

I wish you could answer me more quickly... 8 days are far behind what the market demands from us...

    As per your reply:

    1. I couldn't open &/or save the link you've attached.

    2. I found the reason why the commands you’ve sent me did not work and I'm happy to share it with the forum:

The proper RS232 cable for this and only this projector is a straight (NOT null modem), female-female cable. This type of cable is not commercially available and can be “produced” by adding a connector to a straight female-male cable.

    Thanks,

    Shay

Sorry about that, missed one bit of that link.

It includes the files necessary to communicate as well as the SOP for doing so and all of the RS232 commands for that projector.
