Acer Aspire M3910-U4210 Replaced hard drive but Windows 7 won't load

My 2 year old hard drive failed.  I backed it up with a mirror image on an external hard drive, restored the image, but I get a black screen with the error message that Window failed to start.  It tells me to insert my windows installations disks (Which Acer doesn't provide) and restart my computer.  When I first bought the computer I burned the 4 recovery disks.  None of them will work to restart Windows.  The helpless people at Acer support in India told me I had to buy a new recovery disk.  I really don't want to give them any more money.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get Windows reloaded?

You may format the hard disk using any hard disk formater tool and create a single partition before using recovery disc.

You may also set the cd drive as first boot device in boot in BIOS.

Thank you for the response.  I had aleady done both of those things.  I finally found an old back up hard drive that it would boot from and got it loaded.  I still don't know why my repair disks didn't work, but at least it's working now.
