Welcome aboard, Csx. I think that I can help, but I need some clarification.

Did your notebook originally come with Windows 7 or 8? You are using a thumb drive to install Windows 8; is this the original operating system that came with your machine? Because there is more than one version of the Acer 725, could you post the entire model number?

Are you trying to keep both your original hard drive and your new SSD in your machine? If so, the original operating system will go to the original hard drive, because that is what it is designed to do.

Your original machine included drivers that are designed for your specific model and your specific operating system. When you installed the SSD, your machine did not have the drivers for it. If you manage to install the original operating system on the SSD, you will not have the correct drivers.

Your original operating system CANNOT be installed on a different computer. If you remove the original hard drive and replace it with the SSD, the original operating system may or may not believe that it is a different computer and refuse to load.

    hello vince,

    first thank you for reply!

    1. my ACER AO725-0494 come originally with windows 8.

    2. i dont have the recovery media, and the originally drive not work any more.

    3. i created usb with installtion of win8(usb formatted with FAT32), first try to install with UEFI bios mode, tried many times, not success, always stop when it copy installation files (stop somewhere at 90%) after 12 minutes.

    4. then i realized mabey the UEFI mode is compatible only with recovery media orginially came from acer(and cost more then  45$ at acer store)

i go to bios and change to Legacy Mode, than made NTFS Usb Win 8 installation again and now win 8 installed  properly!!

    5. when install complete and the first blue Error screen apear, i delete (at cmd on repaire computer mode ) the WIFI driver: "athrx.sys" (guide) and the installation succeed, then i just install all the drivers(Acer Drivers site) and now the compter work well, very fast with ssd.

    6. my question is..... I understand untill i will not have the 'original recovery media'  i will not able to use the adventage of UEFI mode of bios (although my computer boot time is only 20 seconds), but it have many other Adventages.

Maybe someone have same model and want to share the compaible recovery media ?

thank you every one for help ,and also to vince

I'm glad I could help. With all the problems people have installing a different operating system, I consider you a genius to have done so well. I'm afraid that your original recovery program was deleted, but if you want to refresh or re-install, the media you used for this successful installation should work fine.
