Aspire 5742ZG having overheating issues

Hi,

As the title suggests, my Acer Aspire 5742ZG has overheating issues. It doesn't literally shut down because of the heat, but it under performs. I noticed that while I was playing a game, at the start of the game it just reached 60 FPS easily, on fairly good settings (not ultra, but it doesn't look bad either). Later on in the game, the FPS suddenly drops from 60, to 30 and all the way to 5 or 6 when it gets really hot. But then, when the main fan suddenly becomes really active and starts spinning really fast, it gets cooler again and the FPS jumps back up within seconds. Now i'm wondering, is there any way I can control the fan's speed? Like, can I make sure that it spins at 100% when I need it to?

I run windows 7 and have not changed the OS since my purchase.

I hope someone can help me with this issue, thanks in advance.
