I had my new acer aspire v5 for only one month and now it just won't charge and shut completely off. I'm extremely upset with this situation and Acer.

    Hi Nicolecronin!
Probably the motherboard is damaged (or overheated) or the AC adapter isn't charging well. If only one month had pass, you should contact "Acer support" and ask for assistance. Maybe your V5 needs some repairs or is defective.

I suggest you to conctact Acer support

yea, most of the v5 and v7(newer one) are having the same problem, you should call acer tech support and explain what is going on, they must know about it by now cause i returned 3 v7 laptops with the same issue and they had blacklite leak.

    good luck

What in the universe is "blacklite leak" ?..  Sounds dangerous to humanity.

I have an Acer Aspire S3 with the very same issues described by "Very Upset", which is why my login is "Igetfedup"...After less than two months the unit quit working off the cable and went dark when battery depleted & could no longer be recharged. Unit is still not working after one month of back and forth with Acer Support.

I even sent the whole thing into Acer at my shipping expense & they just returned it with a note that said "replaced DC power cord" but sent me back the same presumably malfunctioning adapter...

I'm now waiting for a new adapter supposedly on the way to me, which may or may not be solution.

Also, what's with the Acer Support Chat system that keeps flashing disconnection is imminent while I sit there waiting for the "supporter" to come back online from consulting with the Oracle of Delphi or whatever...(Sorry, but that call center really makes me fed up)

    Dear Very Upset,

I really hope you will post the solution to your power problem in the forum if you ever find one because I am having the exact same problem with my new Aspire S3.

I suspect it is all to do with faulty adapter/power cables, but we'll see. It won't be the first time that a computer manufacturer got hit with a batch of bad power cables from a sub-contractor and ruined the sense of humor of many computer customers.
