TravelMate 4220 has issues with Acer Empowering Tech Framework

Hello - I'm seeking to understand a bit more about an Acer feature called, "Acer Empowering Technology Framework".  On my TravelMate 4220 I loaned out, someone smashed Window's .NET framework and I had a lot of trouble reinstalling that just to get it back to square one.  Restore Points in XP Pro was not an option as the borrower used it past the time when Restore Points were available because they'd been flushed.  Anyway, I've gotten the Microsoft .NET Framework all fixed and now a new problem has cropped up.

On boot or log in, I get this notification:  Acer Empowering Technology Framework Launcher (AETF) has encountered a problem and needs to close....

So, after Googling around, I came across an Acer support webpage with the AETF software set intended for the TM4220, that you could download.  I downloaded everything I could including the AETF Launcher.  I then uninstalled the AETF, rebooted and no notification.  But of course, at the same time, none of the AETF features were available   So I went through and installed the AETF components, somewhat unguided and mostly guessing which ones did what function.  This included the Launcher which I think kicks off the other components when commanded.

But, sadly, on boot or log in I'm still getting Acer Empowering Technology Framework Launcher (AETF) has encountered a problem and needs to close....

Who can show me or tell me the correct method to reinstall the AETF, please?  This computer, though pretty old, still runs great and has a lot of life left in it, I believe.
