ACER Aspire One does not recognize 2GB RAM 532h-2254

HI Everyone,

I upgraded the netbook to 2GB RAM and it is DDR2 SODIMM that matches my machine but then I go to the BIOS it will not recognize it and still says 2GB.  When I got into Windows 7 Starter and I go to the "System" it says 2.00GB (1.00GB usable).  Why is this happening and my computer is out of warranty.  Is the Acer defective?

Thanks,

Mike

The maximum amount of RAM for the system is 2 GB.

You installed 2 GB of RAM. In BIOS and Windows you are seeing 2 GB.

I'm not understanding what the issue is.

I have a 532 upgraded to 2GB (replaced the original 1GB) and that is what it reports.

There may be a setting under System Configuration for Maximum Memory that is set.

Press the Windows key and type MSCONFIG and press enter.
Select the Boot tab then select advanced options.

Ensure that you do not have the 'Maximum memory' box checked.

    Hello Tommy,

I did what you told me and still it has the same problem.  Now it says 1GB but I have 2GB still in my system.  I went to my BIOS and it says 1024 NOT 2048.

    Thanks,

    Mike
