Overheating? Aspire V5-552p

Hello,

I currently have an Aspire V5-552P, it was running absolutely fine for the first month. Then I noticed these frequent occurences of freezing and shutting down. I downloaded something like Speccy by piriform to check out the temps and the cpu is idling about 99c on idle. Which was weird because the gpu was ticking at 60c. Note this is using the new AMD richland APU's (a8-5557m) to be exact. There is no dust in the vents whatsoever. So I decided that upgrading the drivers would fix the problem, not the case. I even kept it at the minimum clock speed of 1.4ghz. To note, the fan spins absolutely fine.

Is there any bios upgrade available for this laptop? Or is it just simply an hardware issue that has to be solved physically?

Based on the symptoms you have listed, including the CPU idle temp, I would suggest contacting your local Acer service center for assistance.
