Bargained with a family friend, trading a nice new monitor (happened to also be an Acer) for some money and their old one - the AL1917-Abm. Problem being, I can't find hardly any information on it to help gauge how much cash I should request. Best lead is this amazon page (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000EH6ETU/sr=8-1/qid=1378139842/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1378139842&seller=&sr=8-1) that has just one third party seller listing for ~$50, amazon saying it's 75% off (meaning it was originally ~$200(?!?)), and that it was first released around 8 years ago. Their monitor seems to be in relatively good condition after some extensive cleaning, but it's still 8 years old and the only reason I wanted it was to replace a CRT on an old Win98 machine of mine that I rarely use.
Acer (bless them) can't help much. Their support staff seems to only really cover warranty products, and their store only covers what is presently in their store. Likewise, all their suggested retailers either don't have the listing anymore, or have it but list it as 'discontinued' with little to no further information.
I advised the friend of everything said herein, saying that we might as well consider it being worth $50, but that still seems high to me...I was thinking maybe $25, considering its age and relatively poor statistics. Any advice (particularly that which is supported by some sort of fact or statistical evidence) would be much appreciated...
