Hi. are you using a router? Try to shutdown everything including your modem, pc etc. then wait for 30 mins then turn it on again. Maybe it will fix it. or try setting a diff or higher channel.

It seems to be a problem with all the Acers. Having the same problem with my M5-582PT did a search and stumbled across a whole range of Acer laptops all with the same problem.

Wishing I did more research before making my purchase. Shoddy wifi chip is kind of a big deal for a laptop.

First I would check for another nearby device transmitting on the same channel. That would explain periodic dropouts since the device will go to the strongest signal. When using 2.4GHz Wifi I try to use only channels 1, 6, and 11 since the bandwidth can spread three channels.

Do you have a way to see what other transmitters are near and what channel they are on ? (I use a reflashed WRT to do site surveys since Windows just tells you what is near and not what channel it is on.

Also have a U$6.00 Chrystalview repeater found in a drugstore (I like toys) and there are some software programs that can tell the same. I just like using the Linksys since it is plug and play.

Seek and ye shall find: just  checked the play store and there is a free (home) app called INSSIDER for multiple platforms that will display local networks, channels, and signal strengths. Seems to work well on my smartphone. See http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2418212,00.asp

    Hi guys.

I have checked the channels on Router, checked interferences, but mine was ok. I had set my WiFi on 9 - non standard channel, thus decreasing possible interferences before.

However, I have found that I had set my router to work on 40MHz wifi (AKA turbo N), which, actually increased the speed, however, as I see now - Qualcomm Atheros AR5B125 is not fully/faultless compatible with 40MHz network (Or at least with BT Home Hub 3.0 working on 40MHz).

I switched my router back to 20 MHz and it looks like the problem is solved - wi-fi is stable and no single signal drop in a week (while it used to be like once an hour).

So, I presume, that I found the issue.

    Anyone can comfirm this?
