Light blinking orange in 4810T with no battery

The power indicator light on my (3 year old) Acer Aspire 4810T has started blinking orange - it blinks a few (4) times then goes back to blue for a few seconds. The battery has been defunct for a few months following an incident with a dodgy power socket in The Gambia, so I can only use the laptop when plugged in, but until this week the light has been blue all the time it's switched on. Has it only just realised that my battery's dead or is it trying to tell me somethng else? It's annoying. Can I make it stop?

Can you take the battery out of the system and still operate on AC power?

There's a trick that works only 10% of the time, but it´s free. Unplug your rig and remove the battery. Hold the Power Button down for 60 seconds. Put it back together and see if it works.

There's a 90% chance that nothing willow change, and a 10% chance that your battery's software program just got straightened out.

I can indeed. Then there is no light at all, and it is wonderful, but I don't think I should leave the battery out since I live somewhere very, very dusty and I think the less entrances for dust to get into my laptop the better, right?!

Re holding down the power button with the battery out... No such luck. Thanks for trying!

Rigger (racer, duct) tape is designed to make an airtight seal.

The issue is definitely the battery being dead.

You may be able to get a new battery from the Acer Store:  http://store.acer.com/

    Availability will vary by region.

Of course, it's possible to continue using the system on AC for as long as you like.
