I was attempting to sort out a problem with logging onto MSN on a Toshiba laptop and the help number I called was for some tech help based out of India and they said that my Acer needed to have an encrypted firewall in place and only they could do it for a mere $400.00.  I thought I had a firewall and how do I check if it is installed or what do I do now???  And I still can't get the Toshiba to log onto Windows.  Anybody out there have an awswer.  I am a nurse-not a computer tech--clueless.

    OK, I am confused.

Are you having troubles with a Toshiba?

Do you also have an Acer that is having problems? Which model of Acer?

Windows usually has a firewall that can be active or dormant, depending upon any other anti-virus software that you may have active.  It sounds as if the help desk was going to sell you an anti-virus program with its own firewall.  These are available much less expensively locally, but I doubt if you need one.

Please explain your problem(s) in much more detail.
