Acer Aspire V7-581 webcam issue

I recently bought a Acer Aspire v7-581 Ultrabook.

Everything seems to be in perfect working condition except for the webcam.

It does not show up in the device manager, nor are there any drivers even remotely related to the webcam on the Acer driver search page AND the Acer Recovery Management software.

I don't believe there is an Fn + Key command to turn on the webcam.

The included Windows 8 Camera app does not detect the webcam, nor does any other software I have tried.

So I suspect it might be a hardware problem.

I'm starting to think returning the laptop might be the only solution.

Laptop is brand new. I have not tinkered with the insides of the machine, not has it ever been damaged.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

If the system is unable to detect the hardware, then there is definitely something wrong.  Either a cable has been disconnected or there is a hardware fault.
