On my new Acer V3-571 I can only find PS/2 compatible mouse in Device Manager>Mice and ohter pointing devices.  Does this mean there is no touchpad software installed?

If this is the case, can I installed the touchpad software listed for this computer on Acer website?

You can certainly use the drivers that are on the website, or I would recommend reloading the system to factory defaults.

Do you have any other issues with Device Manager?  Items with an ! or X on them?

How do I reset to factory defaults?  Will that give me touchpad softwae installed or just the PS2 compatible mouse software?

How will this solve the sensitivity of the touchpad?  At present I barely touch it and things happen, I dont seem to be in control of the computer!

    Hallo dmkg,

your touchpad has turned on the function "touch = klick".

(In german it is "Tippen=Klicken". I don't know the exact translation.)

That means, touching the touchpad is the same as if you klick the left mouse key.

That can be turned off, but only when you have the touchpad driver on your computer.

You need not to reset to factory defaults. You just have to find the correct driver and install this.

    Article: Reloading your Acer Computer

This will reinstall the system as it was when brand new.  You need to backup any data on the system prior to doing this.

This should install every piece of hardware's proper driver and any associated applications for you.

You did not mention a sensitivity issue in your original post.

You should be able to adjust mouse sensitivity in the control panel, once the proper software is installed.
