Hello,

I got an Acer Aspire V3-571G - i73630, Nvidia GT640M. As expected it gets kind of hot ~80-82C GPU/CPU. (~47-48 idle gpu / 48-50 cpu)

I'm going to get a cooling pad but I'm not sure what I have to choose - one that blows air up or one that sucks it down?

You've got a powerful rig, but it should not be getting that hot. If you are still under the store warranty, I would return it. Most laptops suck air in through the bottom and expel it through the side. Move your finger along the sides until you find the exit vent. If you can't find the exit vent that way, then your fan has failed.

And an unlikely but important scenario: touch the battery case to see if that is the source of heat. If so, shut off your computer, unplug it from the wall, and after an hour or so to cool down, return it to the store. Your battery has an internal leak and might ignite or even explode.

    Idle Temperature

A week ago I removed the battery - I read that it will decrease the temperature. I don't think it was getting hot. And it didn't really help with decrasing the temperature.

The fan is working. But I'm not sure if the bios/windows controls it right. Now it's quiet. When I start a game - it starts to run faster (and that's ok), but a few days ago I noticed that there is a 3rd fastest state that it never goes to (or is it kind of dust cleaning state?).

It's 27C in the room, I think it's normal to get hot when heavy loaded.

I'll probably get this one. It has high CFM. I hope it works.

The next month I'll probably bring it to a service to clean it and to check the termal compound. And probably replace it with arctic silver.
