No. But an 802.1ac router is backwards compatiable meaning it will connect to the w700, but at 802.1n speeds.

i know but i wanted to buy ac router but that is obsolete now cos it is not ac and i dont want backward compatible .. no point buying it.

is it actualy possible to replace wi-fi card inside with Intel 7260HMW IEEE 802 11ac  ?

    thnx

It's worth noting that the card you link to is one that doesn't support full 802.11ac speeds, because it only has two antenna connections. For full speeds (1.3Gb) you need three antennas. The w700 has only two antennas in it, supporting both frequencies of the 802.11a/b/g/n standards (IIRC). If the wireless card inside the W700 is replaceable, replacing it with that one wouldn't make a huge difference.

The wifi card is soldered on and not mini pci, so it is not replaceable.

what??  completely disagree with u ! it HAS NOTHING to do with antenas AT ALL  the ne intel wi-fi card has two or three and that is normal .. i have three latops and and one has three antenas others two  and there are completely not difference at all. Third antenna should help a little little bit better reception but not huge ..

In order to get 1.3Gb throughput with first generation 802.11ac devices you need to run 3 spatial streams. Each stream runs on it's own antenna. If you have only two antennas the maximum throughput is 867Mb. The 802.11ac spec calls for as much as 8 spatial streams eventually giving 6930Mb throughput (6.93Gb). Cisco has a white paper on the technology if you are interested...

    billsey, as usual, is right.

Ethos, you make a confusion because your network is not really a pure 802.11ac.

Read all white paper about this technology: Cisco or Netgear or Aruba...

hi oh yeah i kow that but i defo not gonna hit so high 1Gbps speed .. no chance .. the intel wi-fi card is  capable up to 850 or something not more .. even if i would mess with third antenna it wont make any diff. so i really not bothered that..

that is fine am planning to stick  hat latest intel wi-fi ac to my vaio aw laptop .. so i have installed third antenna in there but again on intel wi-fi card there are only two pins avaliable  soo .. third one will be disconnected ..

but another thing bothers me more .. wi-fi card cost 45 dollars and router cost 150 dollars ,.. oh dear.. expensive..

The Intel® Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11ac, dual band, 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth adapter lets you move at the speed of life with faster speeds (up to 867 Mbps

billsey, as usual, is right ??? please dont be ridicilous ..

no u NOT right too .. i know what am doing so.. it is ok .. i wated to know from u if it poss to repl wi-fi in w700p but it is not poss. the rest i know what am doing.. dot worry i am not bothered about highest ac speed .. but that speed what that intel wi-fi card WILL deliver .. with collaboration ac router either Netgear D6300 or D-Link DIR-865L

currently  i have 2G and 5G router simutaneuously broadcasting both bands .. and on 5G i have 450 Mbps(not constantly obviously) on my intel wi-fi bcos my router supports it and intel wifi card .. and that is on my laptop vaio cos i upgraded everything on that laptop..

on my w700p the network speed is 300 Mbps (constantly).. that is qualcom aheros .. it is bit slower  but still good..
