3 week old laptop, suddenly fan is always on?! Aspire V5-571

I have only had my Acer Aspire V5-571 laptop for 3 weeks, and for the first 2 weeks or so it was running completely silent for the most part - on occasions the fan would kick in, but then it'd soon wind down again.

Now however, just 3 weeks after using the laptop, the fan always seems to be on! Quite loud, too.

This has got me concerned because I am not using the laptop for anything differently as I was in the early weeks, and also the temperatures seem to be the same as they always were.

What could you suggest?

Thanks

The environment the notebook is in will determine how often and fast the fan is on for.  This includes what you are using the notebook to do, gaming will ensure the fan is always on for instance.

A lot of fans come on when the CPU goes above a certain temperature, for instance most nowadays will turn on when the CPU hits 45+ degrees celcius.

On a side note, a lot of people elect to buy notebook coolers that sit underneath the fan, they plug into a USB port for power and do quite a good job of keeping the notebook cool.

Thank you for the fast response, much appreciated.

I am not really doing anything intensive for the laptop, just Google Chrome open with a couple of tabs - this is what I was doing when I first got the notebook, and it was quiet in the first few weeks when performing similar tasks.

I am using the laptop on a flat wooden surface/desk. Should this be OK for ventilation?

I have thought about getting one of those coolers that sits underneath, I wasn't sure if they were very effective.

My fan cooler lowers the temperature 10F. If I merely elevate the back a little, it also lowers the temperature 10F. I suggest that you download the free Core Temp program to see how hot you're running.
