Hard drive problems?

Hi

I'm no expert with computers, so I'm after any help I can get! I'm having problems with my Acer Aspire M5810, running on Win 7 (64 bit).

A number of times my computer came up with messages saying 'insert something into boot drive', as presumably it couldn't boot off my hard drive. When it did boot, then it blue screened after boot up, noting an 'I/O error status of 0xc00000b5'. I was able to repair my computer from a previous version, and then it worked fine, but on shutting the computer down it automatically installed Windows updates, and since then it's not booted up! It gets as far as the 'starting windows' logo and then just dies!

I have my Acer factury default disks, and put in disk 1 and tried to boot from this. I got to an Acer page, with three options (the first two being wipe and start again, and the other being restore O/S but keep files, and the final option being 'exit'), however I am only able to select 'exit' as the other options are greyed out.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
