Clear.fi - No picture

I can no longer watch DVDs on my Acer laptop.  Clear.fi was and has always been the default for playing DVDs since I bought my laptop in March 2013.  My clear.fi is up-to-date (I checked).  I insert the DVD into my Acer laptop hard drive; it opens automatically opens to clear.fi where it used to then play my DVDs with no problem but now there is no picture.  It can see that there is a DVD in the hard drive and names the DVD correctly, the DVD is spinning but then stops and shows a blank gray/black screen.  Sometimes you can hear the DVD's music playing in the background but otherwise everything has stopped.  My hard drive is working so that is not the issue and the DVD itself is not scratched or dirty.  I usually watch my DVD in full screen but let's say, I need to pause, I would usually touch the screen and a bottom tool bar would appear for me to give commands.  I can't see that tool bar anymore and I remember that this toolbar gave an option to change the size of the screen and I think even the resolution of the picture but I cannot utilise this function because I cannot see it.  Why has this suddenly happened all of a sudden?  Clear.fi wasn't updated recently either to have this cause the problem but also, I have the most recent clear.fi update, v2.  I would appreciate any assistance as the laptop acts as a DVD player for my children and it is a lovely function to have availalble espcially when travelling.  Thank you.

Thank you.
