Windows does not boot after image by acronis

I have always used Acronis to make an image of the contents of the harddisk, always without a problem. So I did the same with my six-month old notebook... and now the machine does not boot.  Some further details.

I have a desktop and this acer portable. Acronis in on the desktop. So I remove the hd from the acer, usb install it on my desktop, do the image and keep it on the desktop.

To make things worse, I installed the Acer hd in another notebook to verify the machine, also acer, worked, I installed xp on that one just to make sure it was functional.

So now I usb install my acer hd on the desktop and mount the original windows 8 back on the original hd. Try to boot it...

does not boot. I try to reinstall Windows 8 with a disk but does not allow me. Hd is 'frozen'.

I googled and found out windows 8 keeps key on the bios and I guess  the hd is no longer seen as 'legal'  as it was installed, for a couple of hours, in another protable with win XP.

Something learned the hard way!

Now... how can I regain the original installation? how can I have access to the hd? how can I install windows 8 ont he hd?

Any help?

Many thanks beforehand,
