Ok Hello Ladies and Gentleman. I recently purchased an Acer V3-771G i7 Laptop, and it came with 1 8gb Ram chip which is not easy to identify and nobody at acer online chat could tell me!? Anyway, to elaborate, I purchased a pair of matching DDR3 chips from Crucial.com as advised by using their online system scanner and today I tried to install this. Following an install, cover on, battery on, power on, straight to the Wei rating and Boooo, no luck said Error V3-771G

So the windows Experience index for my system could not be computed?? How odd eh?

Matching pair of chips, at a cost of £110! Also had same result when trying to match a Kingston branded chip to the existing one in the hope that a matching brand would at least work. Acer UK AKA India are not going to support me on this so called unofficial ram upgrade, but are happy to tell me that my system is meant to be able to run 16gb of DDR3 ram? Hmm... So, the Wei rating works totally fine with 1 chip, cold this be a porky pie, maybe my system can only support 8gb but Acer tell me different, also, have seen the 771G at other online outlets ie PC world where it is supplied with 16gb?  If anyone can help on this matter please feel free. Thanks in advance.

If you can please provide me the part number of the system, I'll see what I can find for you.

It appears that the issue may be the use of DDR3 memory instead of DDR3L memory.

DDR3L memory is 1.35V instead of the DDR3 1.5V and use of the higher voltage RAM could cause issues with the system, including not seeing the RAM or not powering on.

Additional information on DDR3L on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM#DDR3L

I have an V3-771G-9802 and here is the details on my ram.

    Nanya Technology NT4GC64B8HG0NS-CG 4GB
    Description:  PC3-10600, 1.5V, CAS Supported: 5 6 7 8 9
    Other names:  Nanya Technology NT4GC64B8HG0NS-CG
    Memory First Benchmarked:  2013-01-05

I have two sticks equaling 8gigs and have two slots free.

Now I went to crucial and they recomended ram that was 1.3V "DDR3L" which is not what is in my system already.

I would recomend checking out newegg.com http://www.newegg.com/MemoryFinder/ They are much more accurate at finding the correct ram and have better prices. Crusial 1.3v 2x8Gb $141.89 vs G.Skill 1.5v 2x8Gb $134.36 (both prices i've incuded tax and has free shipping)
