Windows 8.1 Pro

I just purchased a AIO Aspire ZS600. It came with Windows 8 basic.

I previously had purchased Windows 8 Pro which i have the DVD's for. Now with the upcoming release of 8.1 I think I am entitled to an upgrade on this machine and also with the owned copy  I am entitled to the 8.1 Pro upgrade.

I want to install the Pro version on this machine. I was planning to do a clean install once the release is out. I am thinking I will be able to download the ISO file and convert it.

I just received an answer from ACER about this and bottom line seems to be that "leave it alone and stick with only basic version and upgrade it" they think that perhaps the drivers may not match and could cause problems?

I would appreciate hearing from the Community your thoughts.

Personally I would upgrade to Pro.

There is only one set of drivers I can see, WIndows 8 64bit.  No mention of home or pro or anything like that.  One set of drivers will work on all 64 bit versions.

At the end of the day it is your computer, you have purchased your own copy of Windows 8 Pro and you want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 Pro.

    The choice is yours.......

Thank you for the response. Thats's the way I look at it also. But when ACER support gets back with what looks like a pre scripted response you have to wonder. To me they don't know the difference between an OS and versions of that OS>

I am hoping when they release the upgrade I will be able to download the ISO files for both basic and Pro. then create or burn them and use them to do a clean install. Many on windows 8 forum seem to think upgrade is not the best way to install and that clean install is. I have no problems with either.
