LAN Ethernet network adapter

I have and Acer ax3400g and my LAN has disappeared. I believe I need to get a replacement card for it but I'm not sure what kind of card I need. I looked at the inside of the tower and it looks like I have one port that is rather short and another one that is fairly long, however I was told that that long ones are for gaming only. The only ethernet controller/adapter cards I can find look like they are to long ? Can someone please tell me what LAN card is supported or at least where I can find this information? I have looked through the guides and checked the Acer website over and over and I can't find anything.

When you state that, "...my LAN has disappeared."   What are you speaking about specifically?

Is the LAN card listed in the Device Manager?

Do you have any devices with an ! or X on them?

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes to the system?

The Aspire X3400G has one PCI Express® x 16 slot (the large slot) and one PCI Express® x 1 slot (the smaller slot.)

The ethernet card is built into the motherboard, so we did not qualify an add-on ethernet controller for this system.

We are unable to support or recommend any third party hardware or software.
