HDMI to VGA converter killing WiFi

I have an Acer M5 - 581T, which doesn't come with a VGA outlet, so I bought a SANOXY- HDMI to VGA converter, to plug into a Samsung LED monitor.

It works just fine as a converter, and I can use the monitor as an extended desktop.

HOWEVER....whenever it is plugged in, this absolutely kills my WiFi signal.  Does not effect any other device in the house, and if I unplug it, then WiFi can be used on the computer again.

What gives?  Anyone have any experience with this, and a possible work-around?
