Can I swap out AMD Radeon with a nVidia GTX 770 on a Aspire 5560

I want to replace my AMD Radeon with an nVidia GeForce GTX 770. But can I? Does anyone know if I can swap out my old graphics card with an nVidia? I am asking because some laptops/desktops have parts welded in. So does anyone know if I can swap it out? Any help would be appreciated

Okay, Trig, your laptop has a dedicated memory card, so it can be swapped out.

 

I'm not sure why you want to change over to the AMD Radeon HD 6740G2. One review panned it, pointing out that there are driver issues with this dual-core video card. I should point out that driver issues are common when you change the hardware (and even the software) of a laptop. I found a review of a computer that uses a card from this series, and the review explained that there are problems getting the benefits of both cores.

Trig, there is more than one version of the Aspire 5560 laptop, and there is more than one version of the AMD Radeon Graphics Card. Checking the web, I found one version of the Aspire 5560 that has its Radeon card soldered in. We need you to post the model number of both your laptop and your graphics card, and then I'll try to look it up for you.

 

I should warn you that you might be heading for driver problems. Upgrading a laptop is much more difficult than upgrading a desktop. If your video card is soldered in, though, it might be possible for a computer shop to install a dedicated video card while leaving the original one intact. The original integrated card will simply remain dormant unless the new card fails.

 

Meanwhile, the nVidia GTX 770 video card is a high-end game card certified to work with both Windows 7 and Windows 8. However, it might be too powerful to run well on your rig. Your best bet might be to talk to a computer shop.

I am also going to upgrade my RAM, hopefully it should support the GTX 770. I am not very tech savy, so I do not know my stuff very well, so I will try to get the most help here as possible.

Thank you very much. But I am not swapping TO the AMD Radeon 6740G2, I am swapping to the nVidia GTX 770. Probably just a typo though. Thanks for the help
