Hi, me and my bro each have 1 acer aspire x3950 desktop. My bro's not using his anymore as his desktop keeps hanging. So i took out his ram and put it into mine. Here's the issue... My desktop and his originally has 4gb of ram. Now that I transferred his to mine, i should have 8gb but instead my windows shows only 6gb. How do I get that remaining 2gb? Please help me!

Sometimes mixing ram manufacturers can have that problem. Different brands do not like to play nice. Also, try reseating all of your ram sticks. If they aren't making the proper connection this can be problematic as well. Or it could just be a bad stick, try taking each one out and rebooting to see what happens. Try various different combinations. Hope this helps.

What version of Windows are you running?  There are generally two versions: 32-bit and 64-bit.  In some cases, 32-bit only recognizes a limited amount of RAM compared to 64-bit.  To check which version you have, follow these steps:

    1. Open the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "Computer" and click "Properties".
    3. A maximized Window should appear with all of your system specifications.

When you've done that and found your version of Windows, report back here and tell us your findings.
