Acer Iconia W3 -810 not booting from USB DVD

i have folowed the directions and can not get the tablet to boot from the recovery dvd 

 

the usb dvd drive does work and i can boot off it from my pc 

 

any ideas on what is wrong

 

i have secure boot turned off 

 

and the bios is set to USB: DVD as #1 on the boot list

    Does the DVD spin up ? If so do you see a white square in the upper left of the Acer spash screen. If yes go away and leave it for about a half hour, it takes forever to boot.

     

    ps turn secure boot back on.

    no nothing works the dvd does spin up just not on the acer 

     

    i have setup an RMA with newegg for a refund it should not be that hard to boot from dvd 

     

    im going with a surface RT

    If the DVD is not spinning up, is it receiving enough power ? I have found that Clover Trail devices (W3, W510) do not provide much USB power, possibly not even the 500 ma required by USB 2.0 and DVDs often need the double power connector

     

    I use a powered hub like a GearHead UH7250 with mine and that cures the problem. Some DVD players (Velocity VMdrive model 101) also support external power though few come with a wall-wart.
