Aspire V5 122P

Just got this unit and can't boot from a CD to install W7.  It starts to boot from the Win 7 install CD, but skips the normal message about pressing any key to boot from CD.

It then goes into the loading of the initial W7 setup files.  After a few seconds, it fails completely with an I/O error.  The CD is not corrupt; I can use it on any other machine I have.

I've searched a few posts and from what I can gather,  Microsoft is trying to prevent us poor users from replacing their (junk in my opinion) newest OS; Windows 8.

Before I beat my head against the wall for days trying to find a solution (disble secure boot, etc, etc), does anyone know if it CAN be done??

I've been able to boot from a USB stick created using Paragon Harddisk manager.  Was also able to do a drive image of the Aspire HD using this tool.

Thanks
