aspire 5742 part and help

hello hi

   i'm having trouble finding a dc power jack plug for my aspire 5742. i'm trying to replace it but finding the part is hard, i live in toronto, canada, so if anyone can give me a store or an online place to find it that will be helpful. also prior to removing the palmrest i need to disconnect three cables, there's a small cable in the middle that's really giving me a hard time. any suggestions on how i should remove it? thanks

Visit the acer store for parts to purchase and if your unit is under standard warranty do call the service technicians in your area or chat with the techs. If no longer under warranty do contact your reseller and see if he can repair your unit.

Valid suggestions however ----

The Acer stores do not list any parts.  The only things I have ever seen on the store sites are adaptors (chargers) and power cords.  In the case of the 5742, the same power cord is listed twice in the Canadian store.

I have concluded, from my limited experience, that the store sites are slow, poorly maintained and not necessarily reliable.

Acer, if you are looking for the socket to plug your charger into, I would suggest a RadioShack (The Source) type of store for the part to match your charger plug.  Unless you are good at fine soldering, I would also suggest a local computer repair shop.
